Innovation of the Era!

Holy Hose Innovation!

Hose had always been an issue with firefighters. From its humble beginnings, hose evolved from animal tissue (oxen intestines) to cloth to leather and finally in 1808, to leather riveted hose. Leather riveted hose was a huge breakthrough in hose design for this era, as the firemen did not have to worry about their hose blowing out during a fire, as they had in the past when it was hand-stitched closed.
Although this riveted leather hose nozzle was a major step forward in hose technology for the era, the firefighters still had to contend with the leather hose rotting over time.
