Does this coat bounce?

In the 1900's, rubber began to be used for turnout gear (that is what firemen call their protective clothing.) It seemed like a good choice at first: it was flexible and waterproof. But, rubber also tends to melt and burn, so it was not a good choice for those working around high temperatures, like firefighters.
